So, anyway, I ended up having to upgrade my powersupply if I wanted any kind of vid-card. I went ahead and ordered the Coolmax / V-500 / 500-Watt / ATX / 120mm Fan / SATA-Ready / 20/24 Pin / Power Supply for a little over $25. Then I'm going with the EVGA card linked in the above post.

Power supply arrived today, just 20 minutes ago. Installed in about 10 minutes. So far it's running, nothing blowing up or sparking, apparently I made all the connections properly. We'll see how it all goes. If it's still running by friday, I'll be ordering my video card.

Question, my prior power supply only had a 20-pin connector for the motherboard, the new supply has a 20+4 connector, the extra 4 being optional apparently. The mother board has a 24-pin slot on it. Should I, or should I not have connected the extra 4 pins? As I type this, I have connected those pins, and so far nothing seems to have gone wrong.

What is the difference between using 20 vs 24 pins?
