i operate under the knowledge that vampirism is a myth; and/or a cult for stupid people. if i learned that there really was such a thing as a vampire i would certainly reconsider my position. for now i feel free to despise them in their role as fiction; and down with the lycanthropes as well. what fictional thing would i have to despise if we found real vampires? orcs? harpies?

I don't know Slug - there may be no real-life Vampires but I know loads of vamps and even more harpies. Some are both, which makes them even more interesting in my book!
PS I actually saw a message on another site accusing a Vampire-hater of racism the other day! It may have been irony but I have my doubts. Go figure! |

Silyen, you can play a vampire, and even though I do consider it a handicap, it has it's advantages as well.
But you should get the patch: just go to the ironworks website, and from there to the W&W site (the site, not the forum); there you'll find a link to the patch. As a vampire you gain a special ability (vampire bite), which you can select with the 'dragon fire' button. Then in stead of fighting, you'll bite, draining hp from your opponents. (Beware: biting skeletons won't yield that much blood!) It will also help a lot if you can get your character to learn Fiend spell: Lifesteal (level 6). And when you get the offer to become a vampire again: take it with the same character, and gain the Vampire Breath attack too. |

When i got the first choice to turn one of my chars into a vampire, i created a new char just for this purpose. I started with maxed out fortitude and topped it with some ankhs. The char was a warrior so she gained good hp. At 80 hp i switched into a warlock and concentrated on fiend magic to get the lifesteal spell fast. After this, you can play a vampire without too many problems. As mentioned before, its more of a challenge than a benefit, but i'll think its fun. After warlock lvl 12, i made it a ninja, which fits good into my imagination of a vampire (cloak of night, moonspells)
I collected the second vampire trait and concentrated on Kung Fu as backup fighting ability. Sidenote: During this process of character evolving, i got at somepoints the message "you have to be nearer at the target" while trying to use the vampire bite. This seemed to me like a bug, because i was standing next to one of this giant ratlike things and i wasnt able to bite. (the other chars could reach with melee). I think this vanished after i gave a staff to my vampire even if she wouldnt use it. After i trained kung fu, i had no longer problems with this. |
