For all of you out there in IW who play guitar, this is some distressing news.

Quote:
COPENHAGEN, Sweden (AP) -- The man credited with inventing the power chord has died. Link Wray has died at the age of 76.
The cause and date of his death are not known.

Wray was known for the songs "Rumble" and "Raw-Hide," which came out in the late 50's.

Wray once said he was asked to play a stroll and didn't know how to do it, so he made one up, which ended up being "Rumble."

David Bowie, Bob Dylan, Steve Van Zandt and Bruce Springsteen have cited Wray as influences.

Pete Townshend once said if it had not been for "Rumble," he never would have picked up a guitar.

Neil Young once said if he could go back in time and see any band, he'd pick Link Wray and the Raymen.

Wray was a native of Dunn, North Carolina, but lived in Copenhagen.

A Denmark newspaper (Politiken) says Wray's funeral has already taken place but did not give dates. His family could not be reached for comment.

Hmm, that's too bad. He may have "invented" it, but Tony Iommi(sp) made em famous...

Tsch! I bet you also think Rome is in Italy as well?
However, the last sentence there does kinda give it away doesn't it? Then again, look at the source.
