Help anyone, please. IW is the only site I'm on right now and I keep getting more pop-ups than I know what to do with. Since mid-day yesterday, it's been like frikkin endless whack-a-mole.
I know Z doesn't do pops on IWF. So, how the F can this be happening??? Does not compute... Any advice? I enables some active X stuff on IE to go on an intranet site for work purpoposes. Could that be it?? |

I think you browser is being Hijacked by some sort of Spyware. Please run Ad-aware or Spybot.

Sounds like you're having a serious trojan problem. Run a program to check your harddisc on any possible spyware.

In addition to the anti-spyware options, I also use popup-killer, which is freeware. Drop me a PM if you'd like a copy -- it makes the most satisfying machine-gun sound when it blows away a load of popups
You might also check your task manager to see if there are any unfriendlies in there. Do you recognize the popup domains, or are they pure spam-related?

Well, I now know what a Trojan is. I downloaded and ran Spybot -- let's hope it works. Damn.... just got another. Well, it missed one and is going to run it again on start-up. I'll update this.
I hear pop-up killers kill even pop-ups that are meant to be there -- like when new IE windows open when you click a link or html document. |

Timber, download a pop-up killer. Norton 2003 has one in the firewall but you don't run Norton any longer do you? Anyway, here's about 500 of them. . Or you could try out Opera or Mozilla. You don't get any pop-ups with them.
