I didn't want to snake Rudedawg's (now freefalling) DVD thread. I had asked if anyone could name five movies the "Duke" died in? For you young wippersnappers the "Duke"(John Wayne)was the original hero he didn't need machine guns, and could whip all comers in a saloon fight. Women swound(sp?), villans fled, puppies howled

OK, here are my five, dredged from memory.
I'm sure about three, but not so sure of the last two. 1. The Alamo 2. The Shootist 3. The Sands of Iwo Jima (don't remember if the title is The Battle of...) 4. The Cowboys 5. a diving movie with Red Witch in the title I'll get the exact title for #5 after Johnny D gives me the go-ahead... ------------------ The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes and my girlfriends, Pamila and Pfil [This message has been edited by RudeDawg (edited 05-11-2001).] |

You betcha pilgrim!
Forgive me John D. but Katheryn Hepburn didn't swoon. She was down right crotchety. You are right though, he was and still is the Hero of all times! |

Does a bear sh*t in the woods?
Hmm, well the Alamo Movie was one. Thinking real hard and can't rember if he died in any of the WWII movies (can't rember). I'm thinking the Sands of Iwo Jima, and there was one Cavalary film I think too. That's only three I can think of. Sheesh, fill me in please ------------------ Drink and be merry Jimbo "Renegade, Rebel, and Rogue" |

Don't tell my dad that I missed four of them, he'll skin me...
It took too much thinkin to get the five I did. hhhhhmmmmmmmmm I've never even SEEN Central Airport. Liberty Vallance threw me, 'cause of what you said. I didn't see him die. Wild Wind, and Fighting SeaBees, I'm kinda fuzzy on. I need to go rent them again, it's been too long. 5 out of 9, my dad's gonna be pissed.... BTW, I just bought three black and white prints of the Duke, signed by the artist, Dan Brewer. I'll get them framed later this month, and send you a pic... Also, I'm getting the Quiet Man, Iwo Jima, and Rio Grande in a boxed set DVD. Gotta love the Duke.... ------------------ The RudeDawg Known in these Forgotten Realms as Perin LightEyes and my girlfriends, Pamila and Pfil [This message has been edited by RudeDawg (edited 05-11-2001).] |
