Critique on the ending of SoU (Game's End Spoilers)

The end of SoU has me bothered. The city is coming crashing down after the medusa is defeated. the game is in video mode. Your character takes out one of my favorite items of all time, the mirror that transports one to the Shadow Room where you have a merchant Shade on-hand. This room is accessible by way of the doorway that appears on the ground. When you are ready to leave your Shadow Room, you go out the same door and back into the real world. The question had gone through my mind upon defeating the medusa that the city would crash to the ground and I would die with it because I could not think of anyway to save myself unless the Giant Eagles came to save me, but that only happens in the movies. Then my character assumes to save himself in the above-mentioned manner.

Now...how does he get out of the Shadow Room if the door has been buried under all that rubble that occured upon crashing to the Anarauch Desert? I can't figure it out. Anybody wanna offer an idea?
