no i am not. whatever happens, happens. I mean you cannot hide from it, so why bother... it is just a matter of luck and judgemental capabilities on where to go, hang-out, etc.

No Iīm not the least afraid actually and I live in Toronto. I have a strong faith in out medical system and I do believe SARS is on its way out. It sounds like this could be the next flu though, reoccurring each year. There has been no changes up here. Itīs still the usual Toronto (except for the SARS clinic). I believe we have seen the worst of this disease.

No, I'm not scared. As long as you get it early, no worries, right?

Yes I am,
Working at an airport, my crew often meet planes at the terminal while passengers and flight crew are still onboard, to tow the plane over to the hangers for maintenance. Or in the case of quick turnarounds sometimes working on the plane while passengers are getting on or off during a transit stop. Last week I had 4 days off with a heavy cold, and when I went to the docs, she took one look at my records and said "you work at the airport right, have you reason to believe you have come into contact with SARS?" Up to then I had never even considered the possibility. I'd never been given such a thorough check up for a cold before!

No I'm not worried. I'm young and healthy, I have nothing to fear. If I caught SARS it would not be pleasant, but I'd be quite unlikely to die as a result.
I'm more worried about flu. Influenza kills between 250,000 and 500,000 people a year worldwide. Even with vaccines available flu still kills on average 36,000 people a year in the US. SARS doesn't look as if it's going to reach anything like those proportions. The deadliest pandemic in the world occurred at the beginning of the 20th century and killed around 40 million people in one year - that was flu. The outbreaks in the 50s and 60s killed a combined 4.5 million. SARS looks like small-fry compared to that. [ 05-03-2003, 08:32 AM: Message edited by: Epona ]

Itīs obvious that this isnīt kidding anymore.. finland isnīt so densily populated though, so the person who might have it can be isolated quickly (and those whom are in danger). Iīm not afraid that it spreads in here, but I worry for chinese for a reason you all know.
And I didnīt know it has landed to sweden too. Whuh.. And even if you are a healthy adult, you cannot be 100% sure that you survive, so I wouldnīt clap my hands and welcome SARS. To exaggarate a little.. [ 05-03-2003, 09:16 AM: Message edited by: NiceWorg ]
