There is a pretty good book dealing with this thought experiment called, " In search of Schrödinger's cat". It is pretty old, 15-20 years, but it gives a good layman's grounding in this conundrum [img]smile.gif[/img]
The cat is neither dead or alive till an outside observer collapses the proability wave, if I remember correctly.
