I think everyone on this forum knows about the Nandrolon thing with the two Dutch soccer players De Boer and Davids*. I was kinda wondering whether or not you guys agree on the punishments of the FIFA. Is it reasonable that the FIFA forces the players to do tests? Is it reasonable to base their test results upon certain matters that can be made by the body itself.
We all know that drugs are taken on a large scale in the cycling business, but it seems that all top-class sports are infected with this. I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this.

(* Not too long ago these two Dutch soccer players were tested for possible use of drugs. The test results showed that their Nandrolon-rate was too high (we're talking about microgram per ml.) They were both given suspension for a year. De Boer reached an agreement that he would not play any important matches until august 31, because he could prove that his high Nandrolon rate had originated due to certain food supplements.)

Guess what. They knew where the line was... they should have made sure that they didn't go over the line.

BTW: I'm not aware of this case as I'm not a big football (soccer) fan. However, this is a problem that plagues professional sports. If you ask me, let them take their performance enhancing drug and die at the age of 33 of heart failure!

Also, when it come to drug abuse in the Olympics or other competition, it should be:
one test positive = take another confirmation test immediately. If second test is also positive then banned from competition for LIFE, remove all previous titles, medals, trophies and give title to contenders. At home, subsidies should be cut, and allotted money reposesed. Make this process with no appeal and abusing athletes will brighten up... of course you'll always get a dumb one that will get caught.

Yes, I'm heartless.

Fact was they didn't even know that there was Nandolon in the food suppliment
Although de Boer had about 10 times the nandolon which was allowed, Davids only had about 2/3 times the allowed

Also Nandolon is a Selfmade substance
If you move your body makes it's own nandrolon
That's why the limit of the max. allowed Nandrolon is one that might be to low

If you're a professionnal, be ready to live by the title. Check the "limits" with the organization in which you work. Then, go consult the organization (not one appointed by the team or the trainer) physisist or nutricionist for their take on things before you take the substance.

Thrust me, those people would've known about the Nandolon limit and that it was in the food supplement.

Of course there is also the point that many supplements (and foodstuffs) are not labelled sufficiently to enable even the casual consumer to determine the contents. Think about all those E numbers used in additives in Europe - does anyone here know what they all are? Their scientific names and what chemicals they contain?

But I do think that in the world of sports there are nutritionists and dieticians paid a huge amount of money who would have advised on supplements and SHOULD know what they are talking about. If these guys allege that they were taking supplements and they didn't know what is in them then they must be daft. Someone hasn't done their homework.
