I have heard from other BG2 players that Elven Chainmail armour can be bought in Trademeet.
Since I have a Bard (main character), Fighter/Mage/Thief and Cleric/Mage in my party, some Elven Chain would be very handy! I have completed the main Druid and Genie quests, and also the Mantle of Waukeen and Skin Dancer subquests. However I cannot find elven chain for sale in any of the town's shops, I have tried the smithy, the temple of Waukeen and the three merchants in the market. |

No idea...........the only elven chain I know of is by killing aran linvail and snitching it off him (if you choose Bodhi's side)
So sorry there: I'd like to know too! ------------------ Greetings Mortals. My Name Is Wah, Arch Lich Wah. |

Alas, you can't buy Elven Chain in Trademeet. Trust me on this.
SPOILERS * * * * * * * * There is, however, one man who owns a set of the stuff - Lord Alibakkar. If you give the Mantle of Waukeen to one of the noble families, it is possible to collect the armour from the lord's corpse - but this is a dangerous action, and if you try to kill anyone your reputation just dies. However, I suppose it might be worth trying to pickpocket the twerp if you go and see him instead of Lady Lurraxol... give it a try. If it doesn't work, then you're stuck. I do know there's a Bard's-Only set of Elven Chain +3 held by some guy in the Prison Dimension in Haer'Dalis' quest... seems to me you'll be doing that one anyway, as it leads on to your stronghold. If you've already done it and didn't get it, you're stuffed. Tancred |

SPOILER
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * Yep - the only set seems to be on someone's back - Lord Alibakkar. If you complete the quest between the two feuding families by the neutral route - giving the mantle to the mayor, you still have one option - KILL the guy!!! You don't lose Reputation or anything if you do the quest this way (well I didn't!) - just finish the quest by handing the mantle over to the mayor, and go inside and top Lord Alibakkar. His goons are nothign to worry about. I've got Aerie using it now! |

Yes, I just found that giving the mantle to one of the feuding families is the only way to get the chainmail. Pickpocketing it would be impossible since Lord Alibakkar is wearing it and you cannot pickpocket items that are being worn or held by a character.
I've already got the Melodic Chain but could do with some more for my multi-classed mages (my party is composed of both NPCs and imported multiplayer PCs). Elven chain is the only thing F/M/Ts can wear and use ALL their skills. |

TRADEMEET SPOILERS
. . . . . . . . . . . You can definitely kill Lord Alibakkar with no problem. Just wait until you have got the mantle & handed it over to the mayor, then go and backstab Alibakkar, and there you have it, 1 nice shiny green suit of elven chain. An illigal way of getting some, is to use CLUACONSOLE - I don't know the code for elven chain, I got it once by calling up Aran Linvael, CTRL Q, and voila, that suit is mine... (I don't cheat, oh no. Nothing to see here, move along...) ------------------ Time is an illusion. Lunchtime doubly so. Epona of The Laughing Hyenas |
