I really seriously need help. For I am addicted to Warcraft 3 and its expansion. I am addicted to online play. I am addicted to Hero Sieges and there vast entertainment and ferocity. They keep me coming back for more. I know I am sad, but I can't help it. This happened once before with Warcraft, and it was quite bad, so I vowed never ever to play the game again. But then a friend got me into it again (I can't even remember why I started again now, but I thought it would be OK, and I wouldn't get addicted.) But now we are both hooked, and sadly, spend most of our free time playing, which is really bad but as I have said I can't really help it. I do have some healthy distractions, such as my girlfriend, my guitar, my band, and well, the rest of life that you just have to do. But I really need to get off this. I am actually thinking on giving my gf the cd tomorow so that I can't play again (although there is still cracks)
It is kinda dragging me down in terms of work, a little, but not too much that it's becoming a major issue. So, do you have any remedies people? For I am listening? (see, I even speak like them now )

1) De-install it
2) Put the cd far away from your computer. In the basement, the attic, a hole in the backyard, wherever is farthest away. These will force you to think about it before you play. The general idea is that your better self (read: the non-compulsive gaming elements of your personality) will repel the temptations if given some time to work. Kind of like freezing your credit cards in a bowl of water in the freezer.

Send it to me, and I'll dispose of it in a proper manner.

Take a searing hot poker and stick it through your left ear until it pierces your brain. Then, you won't worry about it at all.

Take that CD, put it in a case and give it to someone else you know so that someone else can enjoy it while you're trying to go cold turkey.
If that doesn't work, get metal box (ie: locker), lock it with a new lock and then rip the combination from the back of that lock so that you don't know the combination. You want to play the game? You gotta decode it first. Find something else to do that interests you. Chess, watch the Olympics right now, Bike, go watch a movie, go see some friends, etc. Don't use the computer at all if you can help it. Using it will just remind yourself of WC3, making it that much harder for you to quit. If all else fails, break the CD. Or, for the ultimate cure, read my long rant about how I think WC3 is a piece of crap. Then, you'll be too busy trying to argue with me to actually play the game.

This is so funny I was in the same boat about 3 months ago. The only thing that worked for me was to throw the CDS away. Yes I threw them into the garbage. And that is the only way I could quit. People that have played WC III will understand that the game can be very addictive. So go ahead and throw them out and unistall. And get out and enjoy the outdoors.
I did just download the free demo about two weeks ago. But the people on the Bnet portion suck so bad I feel bad beating them. I usally just mass peons and one hero and rush them and through up about 40 towers and win the game.

Give it to your Girl friend and have her hide it. When you want to play have her give you hints and "rewards" for getting the hints. ie. pieces of clothing if you get my drift. By the time you find the game you better not want to play it, if you do, throw it away before it's too late.
