(Through clenched teeth) Grrr. Keep that up 'sonny' and you're unlikely to live long enough to find out!

Wow, we are almost back on topic here!
I'm 30.
I think we are smashing all the previously held conventions about PC gamer demographics - about half of us here are women and the majority are over 16, but with a wide age range across the group.
Game developers, take note!

Hi Epona,

Lets look at the demographics again, how many Sports/FPS and RTS games do you buy? The demographics thing shows who buys computer games, and people can only buy whats available so if the above games are out then they will be bought, primarily by males 16 - 25. Interesting point is that the SIMS which was marketed towards a female audience as well as male, although liked by most of the girls I've seen play it, didn't sell as well as might have been expected. The biggest problem for games developers is that girls don't buy the games when they come out. E.g. at least three of my falt mates at uni loved the SIMS, and were quite addicted, but simply played my copy, they wouldn't have bought it for themselves.

Perhaps what really needs to happen before it makes commercial sense to make games that are geared towards more female tastes is for women to buy current games and then make recommendations for their sequels. It's easier to make changes from inside a community than outside of it. Also RPGs although they sell consistantly well are still only a niche market in the gaming world.

Don't actually want to take this thread off topic, so if you want to discuss the above Epona, please start a new thread. I would be interested to hear what you as a woman would want in a game. One day I hope to actually get into game programming.

Hi Epona. Just to let you know that I have been paying attention , there have been 20 ages given in 65 posts. The current average is 29.35. Which makes you just above average.
