Ok, your favored class is the class that is ignored when the game looks for xp penalties for your classes. If you are a female drow cleric, you don't have any class towards an xp penalty. If you are a cleric/rogue, then only the rogue is counted for the penalty, and there is none for a single class. If you are a fighter rogue, then unless the levels of each are within 1 level of each other, you will recieve a 20% xp penalty due to having 2 non-favored classes of different levels. You would have the same penalty for a cleric/fighter/rogue. I hope that makes sense, it's tough to explain.
