What's that anvil in the Mind Flayer place all about? All I ever got out of it was a measly Masterwork Battleaxe. I was expecting something better, given that I'm picking up magical items everywhere.

My understanding is that if you happen to have a Duergar fighter of sufficient level (dunno what that is), you can have him work the anvil and get a better axe. Never tried this myself, though.

Just my luck... I had one in my party but of course... I didn't use him

Thanks, Nightowl. Tried it with a 12th level duergar fighter just to satisfy my curiosity and ended up with a "duergar-forged doom(?) axe" (not sure if there's a "doom" in there or not), just like the one Barad gives you as a reward. Dunno if a higher INT or Alchemy skill affects what you get.

Probably not. Maybe you get something better in HOF mode. Kinda cheesy to give a weak weapon like that so far into the game, especially when only a very particular race/class combo can do this.

Is there a list of Race Dependent Quests/Items anywhere to be found. I beat the game in normal and HoF and Im going to go back through again with a power party and wanted to know what I should take along.
