I have a choice facing me shortly. I can pick up a 60GB iPod Photo or I can wait a little longer for a 20GB iPod. Both are essentially free... cashing in some frequent traveler points. While my left brain is saying go for the 60GB, my right brain is saying there must be a catch.
Anyone have any input for me? I've done some poking around, and I don't seem to see anything that would turn me away from the iPod Photo. I'm not really looking at it for pictures and such (at least, not yet), but just for use as a traditional iPod. *edit* Okay, so the real question is whether an iPod Photo is superior, inferior, or equal to a regular iPod. I know that 60 is more than 20... I'm just wodnering if there's a catch behind it. TIA. [ 08-08-2005, 09:45 AM: Message edited by: Bungleau ]

Lets see, 60 is more than 20... does anyone really have to think about this...?
I have a 20GB mp3 player, a kind of a Ipod imitation, but it's really good, just wish it had more space, I also use it as portable harddrive. |

60 gb. I'd assume that if you can get the 20 gb ipod for free, then you can probably get the 60 gb ipod for free with no catch as well.

I did figure out that 60 is more than 20 What I wasn't sure of, though, and what I was asking, was whether an iPod Photo is superior, inferior, or equal to a regular iPod. That's what I'm unclear on, and why I so unclearly asked the question above.

Well, the only difference I can think of is that it has a color screen and can hold pictures.

I have the 40 gig iPod photo, and the only differences are the color screen, the ability to show photos, and best of all, it shows album clip art (if you choose) of the songs you play.
While the newer versions may all offer color screens, the iPod photo is awesome. They are merging the two versions, which may explain why you are being offered the 60 for the same as the 20. My guess is the 60 is an iPod Photo, like I have, and the 20 is the newer version which doesn't differentiate. I paid $250 for mine, and it's the best money I've ever spent.

I'd go for iPod Photo, why have a black and white screen when you can have colour?
As your getting it for free you won't loose anything *if* it breaks, and there is a high chance it will. It might just be people are clumsy in England, but most people I know who have an iPod has either broke it, or sent it back. Mine recently froze, then the hard drive wouldn't pick up, and now all the songs have been deleted from it. Think I'm going to send it back again *sigh*

Really? Neither me or my brother have ever had problems with our iPods, and they both get a lot of use.
