In moving my web pages out of AOHell, I've had to edit in my own html for sound into the new pages at Tripod.
There's a problem though...the html codes for IE and Netscape are different on the two sites I know of that post html code for some of the more basic uses of it. I can get this page to work in Netscape but not this one and the url is not doubled in the html as IE suggests that it is. Neither one of them work in IE or AOL since I installed RealPlayer (RealOne) and it took over all types of media files even though I told it not to. I have tried to restore order (lol) to my PC through Windows Media Player's options but the registry keeps assigning .wav files to Real anyway. OK I am smart enough to probably be able to fix the registry thing with the .wav files on my own PC but (and the reason I am here lol) I need to know...is there an html code for sound that both Netscape and IE will recognize and if so how can I still keep the sound hidden on this one? Thanks!!!!! [ 08-25-2002, 05:53 PM: Message edited by: Moni ] |

If the differences are the attributes you put in the tag, just put both sets of attributes in.
If it is two different tags, put both in but put them in comments to hide them from each other |

OK, I managed to fix whatever problems I was having with my personal page...every time I uploaded a new version of it, it got crappier and crappier and finally, even though it was right here on MY PC, when I uploaded it into tripod, the guestbook and Home button were gone LOL so I deleted it and started over, uploading it under a different name. It looks better now than my first attempt (YAY LOL) but I still have a problen with the wav on my dad's page....
What is the code to make a console visible in IE so that I can shut it off?! Thanks to anyone who can tell me! LennonCook, Thanks again for your help! [ 08-26-2002, 08:28 PM: Message edited by: Moni ] |

Put hidden="true" in the EMBED tag to hide it, hidden=false to unhide it
And you are, ofcourse, welcome [ 08-27-2002, 04:31 AM: Message edited by: LennonCook ] |

yeah, I have my purr wav hidden but I kinda wanted to keep dad's bluegrass visible so it could be shut off in either browser. I'll play with it some more when I get home from school today.
Thanks again, & again & again LennonCook [ 08-27-2002, 05:54 AM: Message edited by: Moni ] |
