Yes, you read that right...I have been trying to get Karen to see the good in NWN, and finally found a way to! I will make a module that has nothing to do with killing anything. It needs to be more puzzle-solving. I was thinking of naming it "Finding Boo", which is our nickname for MaryBeth, given to her way before Monsters Inc. came out. I have been trying to construct a bright and colorful castle. Yet I am lacking in the creativity area. Any help would be appreciated.

Well, I've seen lots of puzzles based on the chessboard tiles. Maybe some kind of game where you have to move a statue onto a square or touch some of the individual squares in the right order to unlock a door?

Remember Baldurs Gate, where you had to answer riddles to access rooms? Something like that.

How about a game where you have to match an item with a creature. For example, have 5 cages and 5 chests. Put in the cages a skeleton, tiger, troll, whatever. Putn in some container a skeleton knuckle, animal skin, whatecer. When the right items are put in the right chests, you get a reward/another door opens/whatever.

Umm ... I'm outta ideas right now, but this is the type of thing i would shoot for.

Also, check out the riddles in BG, SoA and ToB - you should be able to replicate them easily enough.

I know this is all simple stuff, but who knows - it may give you a bit of inspiration, or something

Hmmm...general idea (not necessarily good, but at least an idea):

A wizard well known for his riddling skills shows up in town, and steals the prize statue of the local lord. The wizard has a gunslinger reputation as far as riddles are concerned, and tends to move into a new region, steal an important item, and challenge the locals to out-riddle him to get the item back. The character is asked to get the statue back. To help weed out "losers" who are not worthy of facing him, he has a few henchmen that pose riddles of increasing difficulty along the way, until they reach the wizard. In addition, you meet others along the way that can "prime" you for your riddle duel against the wizard, by giving you ideas for riddles to use against the wizard.

Another one:

Based off of the trial in the OC, have a friend of the character get arrested for theft. It is up to the character to prove the person's innocence, by questioning the suspects and uncovering clues. Finally, have them go to the trial and represent the person.

Just some ideas!

There is a puzzle mod in the NWN Vault's HOF if memory serves me correct.

I also found several nice netbooks of riddles and puzzles at an AD&D site.
unfortunately that site doesn't exist anymore so I dont have a link....

Why don't you try an excisting puzzle mod, like mentioned earlier? You may be able to 'borrow' a few good concepts

There's one called 'The Crypt of Riddles' which you could dissect thoroughly. It has a nice variety of riddles and many scripts that would be useful when creating your own version.

Oh, and I see there's a follow-up as well

Why not make a murder mystery game and the only powers the person would have is to sometimes raise dead to find clues and answers?

This could be done in the spirit of Planescape Torment and if you have a mic you could sample really cool sounds and add in the game. Dark tilesets with loads of the small light effects can create an eerie effect and green light on tiles would give it a bit omnious setting etc.

Hmm, one idea could be to find out who is trying to murder a god and to create a new good to take that place. And if you have read Sandman, you could add alot of puzzle mazes etc to find certain items to wake up the dying god for instance. Oki, its fantasy after all so you could just as well make it an adventure to find an antidote to save the cute princess dashing prince or something.

There are few murder mysteries in fantasy settings. Would be cool to see one done.
However, good luck with your quest Larry.
