Thanks to all for the help on how to get through the elevator maze in the serpent temple. That being said however, I need a finishing touch to complete the maze. For some reason I keep ending up in this corridor that has one barrel on the left hand side, when I move forward a trap opens up sweeping me down into the room with the two elevators and a lever between the two. I know this is some type of trap but I don't know how to deactivate it or circumvent the thing. Any advice to help me finish this puzzle? Thanks to all for your help!

It's been a while - hope I got your location correct:
Try flipping the lever and taking the left elevator up. This should deposit you in a small room with two corridors leading back and downwards to a huge room. This is where Elyssa hangs out - she's a real tough one. |
