The Wings did NOT buy the cup. If buying high priced players was all you had to do to win the cup, stupid teams like the Rangers would win the cup every year (if you need example of their sutpidity, see Holik's contract). A team has to make smart decisions, as the Wings did in bringing in guys like Hull, Robitaille, etc. It was as Moose and IR stated, chemistry is very important to a hockey team (or any sports team for that matter), and the Wings brought in guys that meshed well with what they had. They DID put out big money for good players, but they did NOT buy the cup.

Exactly, and buying all star caliber players is no guarantee for succes, the coach still has to make a winning team out of it. And sometimes that's pretty hard if you have so many big ego's all in the same squad. But the Wings came out fine, and i look forward to their next championship (this year).

The Wings picked up Jason Woolley from Buffalo today. Does anyone know much about him. I haven't seen him play much, so I don't know how good of a fit he'll be for the Wings. We definitely need a defenseman, with Jiri Fischer being out.

IIRC Wooley is a decent defenseman, but nothing special to write home about. Think De Vries in Colorado, is the role Wooley was playing in Buffalo.

Okay, thanks Moose. He should work out all right then. It's not like he has to do anything spectacular out there for the Wings, after all.

Anyway, back to the Michigan football game.

Jason Wolley, eh? He might play the point on the PP, he has a pretty nice slapper..But I dont know they have Fedorov, he has a harder shot so..

Purre: Yep, they beat the Avs! Woohoo! Did anyone see Niko Kappnens backhander? That was awsome.

Hehe- Funny site for Avs haters..http://www.divealanche.com/index.html. HEHE!

Devs trailing 1-0 agaisnt montreal heading into the first intermission. Is it just me or is that team resting on two giant pillars called Theodor and Koivu?

Guess who's gonna be behind the Flames, Sir G! Especially after they beat a team that beat the Oilers 5-0
