I remember getting Might & Magic 5, which you could put together with MM4 and use the same party. I completed MM5 and played on and off for almost a year until my parents got me MM4. By then I had a super-party, all level 80+, and nothing could touch me. "See mom, I wasn't wasting time playing that game. I can beat this next game real easy now!"
