I just read a post created by mortification and how he had an idea for his chars. Im not willing to take it to far cause i dont want really goog chars at the begging but i was wondering about the restriction you get when you change your role. like from paladin to ranger, dont you lose the ability to keep with the spirit spells?

Does anyone know this stuff. What classes can change to what other classes and what do they have to leave behind when they change. Thx in advance

It hampers your ability to continue with them, but you can still learn them...at 1/2 the skill level ability. Thus, if you have level 6 Spirit magic, and change to Ranger, you can only learn up to Level 3 spells.

You can pretty well change any class to any other class. Most skills will continue to increase normally, but magic is different.

Hi Wizardmen!

When your magic user changes class, they KEEP the spells they know! The only real caution on changing magic class is to allow your character a chance to learn the higher level spells prior to changing. You can still learn spells in the old spell type but it is more difficult and so much easier if you just let them learn the important ones prior to changing class.

Saz can probably give you a great run down on what class can change to what class if it isn't already in the BEST TIPS thread! (and if it isn't, it should be! )

Hope that helps!

Wyv

You also can't just change to any elite class when you want. You need to meet the Minimum Attribute requirements, too.

As in this example...

Barbarian needs:
STR=12
DEX=8
AGI=8
FOR=12
PRE=8

Warlock needs:
INT=10
SPI=10
FOR=8
WIL=10
PRE=10

So if you don't have these minimun stats, the guilds won't let you train to the Elite Roles. It's best to roll your characters with an eye towards your next role change.

Mark

True enough. After a point, it becomes moot, since your stats all go above 10 (if you plan correctly).

Hmmm, Wyvern...looks like "table time" in the Best Hints thread...

Right Saz,

I was thinking more along the lines of early character development. When I ran a one character game, all her stats were 24.

WizardMen,

Check out my fresh post on the subject of class changing restrictions if you're still interested. Seems there may be no penalty if you utilize the restart technique.
