Idea -- For the IW Radio show -- Can I take Skype calls live?
Somehow, set up skype, and take calls like a normal talk radio show, and just talk about any topics you want... request tunes and such..
Do mobile phones have shoutcast apps for listening to streaming audio? Or is there a better streaming audio program? Anyone that can help, let me know. I REALLY want to do this!! It sound so fun!!

Re: Idea -- For the IW Radio show -- Can I take Skype calls live?
Sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself ... I guess IW's is pretty dead.. but I don't plan to let it die.. I will simply re-invent the entire site! (as I am doing). takes time, but I would REALLY like feedback on this radio call-in skype aspect... can it be done? like a cell phone call through skype to a PC with audio only?
if not, I do twitter questions or some other media...

You might want to rethink the music bit Dan. Legally you'll be required to pay FOUR groups to broadcast music online; ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and RIAA.
Under the new RIAA fee rates, if a webcast had only a single listener -- the webcaster himself -- he would be expected to pay RIAA $160/year for streaming music to themselves! (Except that there's also a minimum fee of $500 per "channel" per year.) And that's not counting the ASCAP, BMI and SESAC fees which can each amount to hundreds of dollars a year as well. (The minimum annual licensing fees for ASCAP, BMI and SESAC are $288, $299 and $232 respectively). You could be looking at a minimum of 100$ a month (and probably a lot more) JUST for the online broadcast fees. Check out this link: http://www.dnalounge.com/backstage/webcasting.html

Yeah, I know about that.. I would probably do a radio talk show then.. Live!! It was fun when we did it a few times, and if we had callers, not just IW'ers, it would be really cool.. and let the callers direct the direction of the shows topics...
Just something I've been wanting to do

Re: Idea -- For the IW Radio show -- Can I take Skype calls live?
Wouldn't you still have to pay a licensing or broadcast fee for a talk radio show? If you have trouble paying the regular server bill, where would the extra money come from?
Also, who do you think would be calling in besides IW members? How would others hear about the show? IW Radio wasn't terribly popular before when you tried it during IW's peak. What makes you think it would be successful now, when you only have 4-5 regular members...none of whom have expressed any interest in it? Two posts ago, you are talking about how "dead" IW seems. You're right. Compared to a decade ago, it is pretty dead. You're going to reinvent the site and add improvements, most of which you've been talking about for 5 years or more. How much time does it take to add these changes and when will they actually occur? You asked for feedback, so I figured it was best to give it to you straight.

Well I would like to listen to IW radio!
I always missed out when you did it before. Maybe a PM to everyone - which sends an email (IIRC) will have people all popping back at least for a while during the broadcast?

I'd pick some topics and set a format.
Maybe link to one of the music streaming services that allow playlist sharing? I don't know if any do it in realtime. I use spotify and I think it just shares by spamming facebook. Lots of new and old RPGs coming out soon and quiet doesn't mean dead.

Wow. You're being mean... I believe you KNOW how my health has been going down hill, and its NOT easy living with chronic pain.. I think I've done a hell of a lot in the last 5 years. I redesigned the logos, upgraded the forums, added tons of games, worked tons on EFU and other things.. You act like I've just sat on my ass or something, and I resent that.. IW will never die. It WILL be reinvented. And as for the Radio, it will not be listed as IW Radio, it'll be on the main streaming sites where people go for what they like. I will also have a link here, but it won't be 100% IW callers. Before when I did the radio show thing, it was just for fun.. nothing really big... but It would be really cool to do!!

I'd listen to this discussion live on Skype.
