Assassin Dagger Question

Ok guys, (hides embarrassment)

I ascended from Assassin to Monk then to Zen Master. I can no longer equip my Assassin Dagger. Oh me, oh my, what have I done?

On a lighter note, my Kung Fu far exceeds that of the former "Felix", and I'm working a little different this time around.

I believe that Radek posted something about needing to be a rogue class to equip the assassin's dagger -- a rogue, assassin, bard, or monk. I forget the exact details, but a search should bring them up. It may even be in Best Tips -- and if not, it should be [img]smile.gif[/img]

Ok, now I'm really confused.
The original Felix ascended from Assassin to Zen Master, back to Assassin.
That is where I'm at now, Zen Master with out the ability to ascend to Assassin.
Strange things do happen in this game.

you cannot and wont be able to ascend back to the same class once u've passed it (you do know this right?) unless u restart the adventures ALL OVER AGAIN [img]graemlins/wow.gif[/img] ......

I thought you had to restart in order to become a class again. I don't recall anything related to needing to surpass your old class to become it again.

Now, surpassing your previous high level in order to get hit, skill, and ability points... that I remember.

Correct. However, this should not prevent the use of the assassin dagger. I cannot equip(use as second weapon) it at all. Once one resets adventure then you can ascend to other classes, etc..

Correct EXCEPT for the Assassin role! Even an assassin can enter the Pawn Shop with an Assassin Dagger, be promoted to an assassin again and become a level 1 assassin. You can also become an assassin, change the role, and then become an assassin again [img]graemlins/hehe.gif[/img]
IMO, it's a consequence of the promoting mechanism. Gaining the Assassin role is special: you are not picking the new role from a list of available roles (that's the moment when you will be stopped when you have already gained the role) and getting the promotion quest, you are finishing the promotion quest first (or rather, gaining the quest item) and then you are rewarded by the role.
Perhaps, it will work with a Zenmaster, too. I've never tried it but, perhaps, if you pass the tomes to another character while you are getting the Zenmaster role (I don't know whether it is possible) then you should be able to become a zenmaster repeatedly

And Radek, I believe you are correct -- if you are in the process of being promoted to Zenmaster, you could pass the tomes to someone else before they are taken from you. Of course, you have to be playing the unpatched game for that to happen...

*yawn* Think I'll go to sleep now...

It is possible to be promoted to the same special role one has already attained, no matter which of the three one has.
