I always thought that that price too was to high to pay every month. After dundee pointed out that a lot of costing is involved, I decided to investigate the matter myself. 10 Dollars is the ideal amount of monthly payment for companies such as Blizzard. You have to realise all the factors that come into play when providing online gaming at such a large schale. The costs for Blizzard are enormous and to make any profit at all (and thus providing us with new and better gaming communities) the price has to start at $10.

Blizzard will start charging soon enough...

The money they receive from sales is nowhere near sufficient to cover the monthly expenses, seen over the span of a year, nor is it meant to be put to that use.

I played D1 and D2 before any of the BG games. I'm not quite the Battle.net veteran, but I've been around. If $10 a month gave me a clean Diablo or Starcraft server where tech support actually listened to my complaints, I'd pay.

MMORPGs are a crutch for poor AI programming. And they expect me to pay per month? Think again, humanoid.
