Today is a reminder to me of the past of America... a past largely based on wars and on tragedy, sadly, but one that has given me the chance to live relatively safe and free. My country exists today because people from many different nations chose to come here and make it what it is. That is both awesome and humbling.

Despite my natural bias towards the place where I was born, and the love that I have for America even with its faults, I don't value this day only for my homeland--I am thankful for everyone, all over the world, who believes in freedom. I celebrate them, too.

Happy Independence Day to everyone!
