I have heard that in most places comitting suicide is illegal, but here is they fly in the ointment. How do they punish you after you are dead?? There isnt realy too much they can do to a corpse to effectively scold it. Silly politicians.

This is just another way to make some money from a dying person if you ask me. Why go to the trouble of selling them a bag (for God knows how much) when they can just take a few more sleeping pills and never wake up.

whoopty do... A bag that inflates around one's kneck to the point of their suffocation... OK... what a way to go... honestly... a plastic freaking BAG? dang... we should put explosives on them and tell them to rush enemy encampments during a war and strap a nuke or two to the able-bodied ones that can still walk straight, yup, great way to deal with the elderly that WANT to die...

Committing suicide isn't illegal in Australia as far as I know. The issue with euthanasia is that in most cases it has to be assisted - ie you need someone to administer drugs etc that will kill you because when you're at the point of wanting to die because of a terminal illness often you're too incapacitated to do it on your own. So the person who dies isn't the one who is doing anything illegal, it's those who assist, ie doctors, relatives etc.

I think the woman Deathbringer mentioned is Nancy Crick, (who incidently was NOT the first person to end her life because of a terminal illness - many people have and for a time euthansia was legal in the Northern Territory), and she is a case in point because while she committed the act herself and did not require any assistance, she wished to have family and supporters present - which is illegal. Now the police are 'investigating' her house (a 'crime scene') and those who were present could be charged and jailed.

Also there was a story recently about a woman with motor-neuron disease who tried to end her life while she still could (she would very soon lose the use of her hands) with pills. She couldn't get advice from her doctors about what medication would work and was all alone except for her cats when she attempted, but she didn't die, instead she went into a coma. Now if she wakes up she won't be able to try again and will have to suffer life with a fully functioning brain but hardly any use of her body. If she'd been able to get advice from her doctor, or better yet have a doctor adminster drugs to her she could have had her wishes fulfilled. So it's not just a case of just taking more pills - at least with the exit bags you can be reasonably certain it will work.

It's funny they're called Right to Life groups. A right to have the life but not to give it up if life is too ghastly apparently.

They only agree in their idea of life rights. That is why the right to life wackos here in the U.S. shoot abortion doctors. In their eyes a small cluster of cells is more alive than a 45 yr old medical proffesional.

I actually know a few people who believe that all humans should perish since we are such a scourge to the planet. They believe that Humans are a great threat to Gaia and that it is only a matter of time untill the planet rouses itself and purges us from its surface.....strange people they are.

personally if i was going to kill myself (for any reason) i wouldn't use the bag thing. for some reason sleeping pills have no effect on me. i'd just find out somewhere to buy explosives (like iraq or possible america) then go there, buy some and blow myself up. much faster and messier

Hehehe [img]smile.gif[/img] Quite to the contrary it isn't quite as easy as walking down to the 5 and dime store and buying some dynamite here in the states [img]smile.gif[/img] A lot of the home grown stuff is just mixing things anyone can buy in a grocery store..a little amonia and some other things and viola! you have a bomb [img]smile.gif[/img] ...still unless your sure itis a really big bomb....I wouldnt want that to be the way I die.
