You don't have to do anything in particular to get them to continue, but the romances do have to have already been started in BG II SOA and you have to import a game. If you start an entirely new game or character for BG II TOB, then you won't get the romances.

you also have to 'finish' the romance portion of SoA to get it to continue in ToB. For instance, in one game I romanced Viconia, and we were still 'courting' so to speak. When I reached ToB, the romance simply stopped. No more dialouges. I played through again, and reached the logical conclusion of the romance before the end of SoA. This time the romance continued on into ToB. Sorry if that was confusing

No, it wasn't confusing, Floyd. I'm just not sure how you know the romance has progressed far enough in BG II SOA to be continued in TOB. I had the Aerie romance, but it had seemed to have stopped and I thought I had done something wrong, but in TOB, Aerie started making love talk again, told me she was ready and now she is pregnant, but the baby has not been born yet. I read one string that said you could get the baby to be born by leaving the computer on for an extended time, with the game paused. I tried that, overnight, but nothing was different when I continued the game for awhile. Anyone know how to get Aerie's baby born?

Witchdoctor--
I'm not sure that you CAN have the baby be born. Although Aerie does say some things about being able to carry him on her back if he were born while you're still traveling. still, i have heard nothing along the lines of the baby being born anytime during the game. |

Ive heard that it takes something like 50 hours real time for the baby to be born. Try leaving the game going over a few days.

only some of the dialogs are triggered by real time. most are place or event based since ToB is far more linear than SoA. once youre able to access a new area, hang out there a while and see if anything pops up. for example
spoiler--- - - - - - - - in the temple of bhaal after you kill "gorion", you get a new romance dialog regardless of how long you were there. same with killing yaga-shura (at least with viconia).
