Some weeks ago I was asking what kind of country Holland is, because I was going there as an exchange student. Well, that I donīt anymore due to bad reviews of the target school.. but now I got accepted to Emporia State Uni. in Kansas, and the time would be from september to december.
And now Iīm asking you how do you like the place? I know itīs basically fields, farms and wind.. or thatīs what people keep telling me.. anyways, I value personal opinions above internet sites, so if you have anything to say about Kansas in general.. well ANYTHING, let it out. Habits, lifestyle, weather, traffic, things to know.. places to see.. I appreciate them.

Cheers,
NW

I haven't been through Kansas in more than 20 years but I'll relate what I know. First NEVER speed on the highways in Kansas. They taking speeding very seriously. They use radar in airplanes, helicopters, and cars (marked and unmarked). I have never seen as many speed traps or highway patrol as in Kansas. It is also the home of Tony's frozen pizza. If you like buccolic countryside, wide open spaces, your land flat, and wheat fields then Kansas is the place for you.
As to information that might actually be helpful. The pace of life is what you would expect in farming communities and small towns. The people are friendly and helpful and the food is very representative of middle America. If you are going to be there during the Winter expect it to be very cold with snow and maybe ice. The wind really blows across the prairie.
