glad you made it. just take it easy for a while. i know what its like to *almost* have a meeting with the grim reaper. the closest call ive had was last winter, when i was driving my...er...moped is it in english? well anyway, i was driving on the street that would take me home when all of a sudden a car came from the left at a rather high speed(at least on a road that small) and hit my moped on the side(and my leg, for that matter). the reason he couldnt stop was due to the icy road. the guy obviously felt really bad, because he came to visit me at the hospital the next day. he said that the last thing i said before losing consciousness was "is my moped alright?". not quite sure if thats true, but i dont really care either.

Glad to hear your alright!
I had a hood fly up on me here in Germany on the Autobahn but luckily (and even more lucky no one was behind me ) it tore right off and I could see again. Still scared the hell out of me and its something you will never forget. Next time wire the hood shut!

had my share of them myself but I always got out unscathed - and for that I have to thank god or whatever power lies beyond ... might be just luck as I'm actually agnostic.
At age 7 IIRC I was crossing the road looking left and right (god I was a good boy then) and a middle aged man stopp for me on the left side. I thanked him (I was polite too ) and continued without looking just to get nearly run over by a VW Transporter at zero cm distance. He even drove over my left foot! At age 18 I had two of them while I was biking recklessly. Once I hopped down from the sidewalk onto the street when a bus just pulled over and got to stop just in time. Even closer was the one where I was crossing the street from the left sidewalk to get to the right side of the road (on an overland street). I was pulling out my arm to signal my lane change (from the left side of the road to the right) and got hit by a car at 60mph. Luckily only at my outreaching hand. Shortly after I had my driving license there were a few others. A friend of mine was driving down a serpentine road with another friend beside him and me in the backseat. Slight overestimation of his driving skills => 80mph => lost control of the car and swerved. Three seconds of sheer terror that seemed like an eternity. And my last one for today: Me driving down the road at 60mph spotting a steamroller in front of me. I wanted to overtake him so I changed to the left lane. He did that too as he was there for some road maintenance. Now I was speeding towards him with not enough space for overtaking either on the right or the left (he was right in the middle). Had to do an emergency brake and leave the road for a few meters. I try to remember these situations when I'm complaining about my lack of luck in life. And sometimes I think that I might even have some purpose here, as I manage to stay alive so efficiently. [ 06-04-2003, 04:13 PM: Message edited by: Faceman ]

Not fun. It´s a bit the same as snowstorms, I think. We were having one here some three months ago. So much snow and a huge wind that you could see maybe 20-50 metres ahead. At the times the wind just threw too much snow into your vision, and everything blinded. Seconds of panic, indeed. After one breeze, I found myself driving on the wrong side of the road. Might have ended colliding with a truck. Yeah, my friend had collided in the same evening with his car..
