Wow 3 new topics in 2 days! And one of them got locked! What a RUSH!

I'm looking at buying some portable speakers to use with my Creative Zen Touch.

The shop has two sets, the Creative TravelSound 400, and the Logitech mm22 Portable Speakers for iPod (not that I have an iPod, but I am assured that they will work.

The TravelSound costs 280 ringgit (about 75 USD), and the Logitech costs 220 (around 60 USD).

I was looking the specifications of each and realised, I don't have a clue what they mean. Sure, the speakers can play sounds that cause the air to vibrate 150 times per second, all the way up to 20,000 times a second. Great! The speakers use 2 joules every second. Hooray!

But is that good? Or bad?

For example,

Creative TravelSound 400

Power Output: 2 Watts RMS per channel (2 channels)
Frequency Response: 150Hz ~20kHz
Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR): 80dB

What do they mean? Is that going to give me loud speakers? Or crappy little nothing sounds... Is it going to sound full of static? Or be clear?

And also, what does RMS mean?

Anyone know?

RMS means "Root Mean Square" and is kind of like "average," especially when refering to voltage or wattage.
