Thanks, I managed to time it right and give him the potion, luckily I hadn't saved the game after I swung at him.
Now I am trying to remember what to do with this masque of death... |

Hmmm... Masque of Death, Masque of Death... Oh, yeah! You'll need it in Shurugeon Castle. I think you'll find out what to do while talking to someone in there.
