Yep... it can be so! On the e-drumming forum, one of the regulars has been putting together drumless Rush tracks, just for us drummers to be able to play along with. He's got about 8 of them, and I burned them onto a CD to play along to last night... man, was that a lot of fun!

If any other drummers are interested, either head over to edrumming and check out the Green Room forum (their equivalent to GD) or let me know, and I'll give you links. They're all scattered around the forum at the moment, but well worth searching.

Thought I'd share... for the rest of you, just move along, move right along...

Now, I wish someone would do that for guitar tracks. My software is supposed to be able to do it, but I'm not that good with it yet.

I just did a little research on it tonight, and it appears that a few folks have done that, but not to a great commercial extent. Dave Weckl has a group of CDs out (from a bit ago) where one instrument was taken out of each edition -- one sans drums, another sans bass, sans guitar, and so on.

Apparently people aren't flocking to buy them... or they're not being marketed properly
