Although Iīm not a bit religious at all, I can tell you: read the holy bible. Itīs all in there. It may sound a bit too easy, but even Jesus didnīt follow all of his dadīs laws. I think that god himself is not a physical manifestation or an old guy who created the universe, heīs synonymous with the good intentions that sleep within all of us and if we follow our own good feelings, we can live and finally die in peace.
