The fight where you face Zekar, Tengyn, and Jemby, those bandits (one of which has those deadly poison arrows I think), the 2 mages like to cast horror/panic. Even with most of my characters at level 5, the only surefire way I could win was to use Dynaheir's brute force Stinking Cloud to attack them before they even asked me to hand over my money....I used silence on that assasin in Nashkel but it didn't work here. What can I do next time I face mages with horor/panic?

I can't remember their names
but
there is a lvl 1 cleric spell (the icon is blue heart)
and
a lvl 2 mage spell (icon is a blue heart with a circle around it)

Both gives immunity to panic.

Actually, only the Wizard spell (Resist Fear) grants immunity to Fear--the Priest spell (Remove Fear) only acts as a cure for people who are already Panicked.

n00body, read some spell descriptions!

The best way fight mages is prevent them from casting any spells. magic Missiles are the best way to acomplish this. Dynaheir with this Ring that doubles Lvl 1 spells has 8-10 magic missiles to cast. Enough, to hinder almost every mage from casting. The next best method is to fire with one or 2 achers on the mage.

As for silence, the target has a saving throw, IIRC. Thus, if it doesn'w work the first time, just try another one.

Actually, Six, the Priest spell Remove Fear also acts as a preventative. At least the Paladin Natural ability does. I have yet to play or use a cleric in either of the BG's (Actually on second thought, I have used Anomen in BG2)

Yeah, both the priest spell Remove Fear and the mage spell Resist Fear prevent characters from running away in fright, and both can be used either before or after the horror-type spell has been cast.
It does not always stop characters from running if they sustain a lot of damage in short order though.

That's odd--It's been many months since I've played, of course, but I always remembered the Priest spell as being ineffective as a protection from Tarnesh and Nimbul. Has anyone out there play-tested this with a Priest?

(This could be the 7th time I've been wrong about something on here. )

After you defeat Durlag's Tower you should have Kiel's helm which should, in theory, prevent it's wearer from the effects of panic and fear.
