there is no real reason to go, except experience. And if you think thats bad, try the firewine ruins. For me it was the most bittering part of the game, there are no real items of value there and everytime i went into my inventory screen my mage got crushed by a regenerating kobold shooting fire arrows, got was it annoying!

Actually there is a sword that you can make, the Vorpal sword IIRC, and it involves the Ulcaster school in someway, but I have never actually made this sword.

I never found any point to either, ESPECIALLY not to Firewine Bridge. All those stupid kobolds with 2 fire arrows. *pounds the desk in agony* The best advice would be to skip both.

I agree, Firewine Ruins suck bad. First of all you have to load every two minutes because your party is getting wasted by kobolds with fire arrows, then your party keep getting stuck in the dungeon because of the lousy AI. Third...there is no cool things to get there at all.

The FireWine Ruins are quite pointless, but if decide to clean them out here are two big tips to make the kobolds easier. first, leave the rest of your party behind at the entrance and have your tank (if you have one) go in and kill the kobolds. And second, use a Nymph Cloak to charm a few kobolds so they do the dirty work for you.

The only reason to go there is to fight "the best swordsman of the coast" and that ogre mage Kursk. They are both farely easy to kill and they give you some decent things to sell along with some exp points.

As for the Ulcaster School ruins, i think i remember hearing on this forum that the Ulcaster Ghost will give you an item if you retrieve something for him. But i have never fulfilled that quest before and i haven't gone to the school yet in my current campaign, so i don't have much of an opinion on the relavence of the school ruins.

you do not have to go through the ruins to fight the so called best swordman on the sword coast, or the ogre mage. Simply walk along the bridge due south east and then go to the land direactly east of the bridge and start heading north.

***********************SPOILER******************** ******

the guy who is the self proclaimed best swordsman has an item of great value, the gauntlets of weapon expertise!

yes, there is supposed to be some kind of easter egg involving the Ulcaster ghosts and a couple of items you have to get....but if i remember correctly, the reward of doing this is more or less pretty useless. i don't remember exactly what you need to do or what you get, but i remember people saying that it really is not worth your time.

The thing you do with the Rirewine Ruins and the Ulcaster School is you get the broken armor out of the ruins, and bring it to the ghost at the Ulcaster School. If you bring him his book he will take the armor and give you a sword(I the vampiric sword)but it is only cursed. The sword stinks it takes hit points out of your character instead of the enemy when you try to use it.

I found Kursk to be a very difficult foe. I took me ages to beat him.

I remember finding a tome for the ghost at the Ulcaster school, but that was it.
