Well, my Swords and Armor of Argus are blessed to the hilt in HIT, My Wizard's Blades+ are also, and the Leprechaun's Staff is a nice weapon for my little Pixie Warlock(formerly Wizard and Bard), but without question, the best Bow in the game has to be taken from the battered corpse of Torin(if you play the dark side). There are some very nice Wizard's Robes+, and some really cool Ninja and Assasin's outfits to be had. I'm not very impressed with the Samurai stuff although my Samurai still uses it. There doesn't seem to be any special benefits to certain classes wearing the armor of their class.

However, I cannot tell you how strong the individual qualities are for two reasons. One, I haven't played in a while, and two, I never knew how to find out that info to begin with and I don't much care to. As long as I can whack baddies into oblivion, that's all I care about.

Best weapons in the game (assuming you have a zenmaster with level 14 bless skill and the artofact of fiends spell):

a. wizard blade 20-74 (special sleep)
b. lance of the lady 17-74 (special death strike)
c. sword of hearts 18-63 (special death strike)
d. tomonari katana 18-60 (no special)
e. bloodslinger (broadsword, I haven't found this item yet so don't know stats..)

with as second weapons:
f. talons fang 16-50 (special stone)
g. waki +2 17-51 (no special)
h. main gauche +2 17-49 (no special)

I find that using two weapons does much more damage than a two handed weapon..

Best armour in the game:
a. Plate of the Realm
b. Helm of the Realm
c. Divine Plate of D'Soto
d. Wizard Robe +4
e. Priest Robe +4

If your character has spirit shield, then wearing robes gives a +5 to armour class plus the normal benefits so my zenmasters have taken a fond liking to the wizard and priest robes. However, at the end of the day, I haven't found armour to make much difference because I have characters with AC>60 who still get hit for a few points from lame characters such as some of the fish...

Best amulet in the game is definitely the Eye of Heaven.. The amulet of Argus is easy to get and also very useful..

Best bow in the game is Torin's bow but it's much better to buy an ordinary bow and bless this 14 times.. Likewise, keep those plain siler rings and bronze cuffs and bless this to the max for either enchantments or ac or to hit..

One question I do have: has anyone managed to get their resistance to elements above 70%? If so, how?

I don't mean to butt in. *grin* Could you guys maybe just post
weapons that were not enchanted/blessed? Or maybe you include both eh? I'm still early in the game and the best weapon that i've found thus far is a 2 handed great sword +1 which does 8-15 i think.

For non-enchanted weapons, then stick with nightblades and the bo staff that has the sleep spell..
