I was looking at some of the upcoming new spells for Shadows of Undertide, and found this entry at http://www.gamebanshee.com/neverwint...elsix.php#null

“Isaac’s Greater Missile Storm
Caster Levels: Wizard/Sorcerer 6
Innate Level 6
School Evocation
Range: Long
Area of Effect/Target: Gargantuan
Duration: Instant
Additional Counter Spells:
Save NONE
Spell Resistance: Yes

A number of energy missiles (one per caster level but to a maximum of 20) appear and randomly target and hit any hostile creature in the area of effect. If there are more creatures than missiles, only the closest targets will be damaged. If there are more missiles than creatures, of the creatures will be hit with multiple missiles. Each missile does 3d6 points of damage.”

THAT’S POTENTIALLY 60d6 POINTS OF IRRESISTABLE DAMAGE! And since it’s 6th level it could be maximized to do 360 points of damage automatically. In any one on one encounter this is instant death. A 20th level Sorcerer would be unstoppable.

Well, I guess I’m glad I never got into any of the random online gaming aspects of Neverwinter Nights. This spell is going to be pug fugly.

I think they're planning on lowering it to 2D6 damage, rather then 3D6. And perhaps there will be a maximum number of bolts a character can be hit by. There is a huge discussion going on about this on the SOU board

It is gold. How are they goiong to change it in a patch? Should not the spell already be defined in the third edition rules?

Offshore33 thats for the link. That is a neat site for info. I had wanted to know what were all the spells that were coming out with SoU and they are not all on the Bioware site yet.

Thanks!

It has been lowered to 2d4 a missle according to the Bioware forums. A potential of 40d4 or 4-160 for a 20th level caster.

Also, according to NW Vault, Gamebanshee is using an earlier release of the game than the gold for some of thier information, so some more of it my be innaccurate as well.

This looks like a cool spell!

I hope they did implement a cap for how many missiles from that spell can strike a single target, still. I would say the new reduction in damage makes it more in line with, say, Chain Lightning, but the fact that it is Unresistable really makes me think it still should be of a higher Spell Level at least, or have a resistance at the current level.

Original post was edited to add the [SOU Expansion] tag on the title, as required.

Excuse the dust...Thanks!

Looks like we may have another update about this kuh-razy spell.

It was doing 2d6 in the final RC IIRC "

Now if this post is accurate, then we've got 40d6 at 20th level and the only thing that would protect against it would be spell mantles or spell resistance. Maximized we've got a nice 240 points of damage.

It's rather strange that a spell of this low a level can do that much damage. I mean, what will happen to Horrid Wilting and Meteor Swarm? I guess they'll all be forgotten.
