Durable laptop
Hey Guys, I'm making a bit of a career change and will be getting a laptop. I don't know much about laptops at all but want 17" screen and good for gaming. Also durability is a big factor it will likely get bounced around a bit. Not like thrown against the wall or anything . I don't mind paying a little more for something that doesn't break easilly. Any ideas? Thanks!

Rugged laptops...
http://rugged-laptop-review.toptenreviews.com/ Gaming laptop... http://www.toshibadirect.com/td/b2c/...?family=Qosmio Rugged laptops are designed for use in extreme environments; heavy construction sites, damp and humid sites, etc. They are usually NOT cheap. Toshiba Qosmio is a gamer. I was a Toshiba certified laptop repair tech for a year before I retired. In that year I saw one (1) Qosmio turned in for repair. Another thing you may want to look for is a lappy that has upgradable graphics capability. This is a dicey thing to do though, IMO. You'll probably be charged extra w/ no guarantee the lappy will last long enough to upgrade! Also, I recommend getting the extened warranty (3 to 4 years). If something goes wrong it will save you lots of money. Hope this gives you a starting point!

Re: Durable laptop
Thanks Elfbane, you're right about the not cheap! I may rethink this and go for a normal one. I'm just worried about the laptop bouncing around in a semi which hopefully I'll be driving next year.

Re: Durable laptop
I posted a thread on PCWorld forums about upgradable lappys. It may give you some more insight... http://forums.pcworld.com/index.php?...able-graphics/
