I had the game installed and having a wonderful time playing. Then I got the "brilliant" idea to uninstall it, reinstall it and patch it with the lower patch to try pickpocketing. Well...you guess it...the game will not reinstall properly.
Now when I go to the character's profile in the create character section, I see the stats section worded incorrectly. Instead of Strenght being at the top it is where Piety should be. In it's place are words alluding to AC of the character. The numbers I entered are in the correct order. Then I cannot save the game or even enter the options section without it crashing to the desktop and telling me I am trying to enter a forbidden area and I should contact Sir-Tech. I tryed to patch it with the new patch and get the same results. This is soooo frustrating and annoying. [ 03-04-2002: Message edited by: Nordoki ]

Did you delete "everything" connected to the game (except your saves folder) before the reinstall and patch?

To the best of my knowledge, yes.

When you uninstall, more is left behind than just your save games. I recently did an unins/reinstall, and had no problems (didn't patch it, either). However, I didn't keep any saves, just the character files. Those I copied out to another directory.
Then I uninstalled the game. The wiz8 directory was still there, with some stuff in it. I deleted the entire thing. After that came the reinstall, after which I copied the character files back in. You may want to try something like that. |

Uhm, maybe you know, then you can ignore this... but you DO know that the patches are not backwards-compatible? And that the patches also fix the save-games, i.e. you can't use savegames from newer patches with a game that has only older/no patches? Sounds a bit like this might be your problem...
Never forget your towel, cheers Philipp Edit: Oh well, just read your post again, and saw that you also have trouble using the newest patch... sorry, can't help you, I guess you'd better contact ST. [ 03-04-2002: Message edited by: Pyrates ]
