In all I thought that the D&D movie was good. How many fantasy movies are there really? Now think, not all people are diehard D&D fans so it can't be hardcore D&D for you. For what is out there and because of the monumental costs of such a movie, it is what it is. Now did you like it because it was bad, or because all of your expectations from playing and reading D&D stuff just weren't met. If you are with the later, you will never be satisfied and I feel sorry for you for not being a little more open minded.

In my opinion of the movie:
The good: The realness of the Dragons, beholders, and other creatures.
The bad: The bad guy acted stupid, not menacing...The black thief was too dumb acting("overplayed" comic relief)

Now, the story and plot was good enough to satisfy, yet it seemed rushed to get to the end...maybe the movie had to be cut and narrated to fit a certain time expectancy.
