I have played RTS, FPS, and RPG's like BG1&2, IWD, Morrowind, Divine Divinity, and even NOX, but I have yet to play a fantasy Turn Based game. I'd like to get the hang of Turn Based before The Temple of Elemental Evil comes calling. What do you recommend that not only is turn based but also engrossing in story and gameplay? Thanks!

For RPGs with turn-based combat, I recommend Wizardry 8 or Might & Magic 6 & 7.

Well the game thats likely to be most like toee is going to be Steamworks arcanum.
Before that, fallout 2, and fallout. Those are the games made by the Troika people. |

Heroes of M&M , Disciples 2, and Age of wonders are all good turn based games and pretty inexpensive

I have a question as I am a little confused from reading the thread.
Are fallout 2, fallout, Wizardry 8 and M&M games fantasy Turn Based game? To me only the combat is turn based and I would consider them RPG's not a turned based fantasy games. To me a turn based game is each round you do your moves and the computer makes his moves. Such as HoM&M, Age of Wonders, CivIII etc. |

I was under the impression that TOEE was going to be similiar to the psudeo-turnbased gameplay found in BG/IWD.
If you have a playstation- Final Fantasy Tactics is a cool turn based RPG- Though it is light on story/heavy on tactics and character development.
