That old excuse for being fat, "that its not me, it's my genes" just may be true!
"Scientists compared the genes of 576 obese and 646 normal weight adults, discovering two different forms of the GAD2 gene. One type of the gene was protective against obesity, while a mutated form increased the risk that someone would become severely overweight. The research was published today in the Public Library of Science Biology," Here is the link. http://www.smh.com.au/articles/2003/...708116079.html And I just thought it was all the beer and chips I consumed

I knew that!
BTW - more good news. Scientists report that they have managed to isolate the lonliness gene!

Good to know! I thought I was getting fat by sitting in this very seat for hours and hours a day! What a relief to know the truth! Yeah!

Well, weight being hereditry is not news. Roughly 55% of your body size/shape is down to genes, 45% due to lifestyle.

Blaming it on genetics does nothing for the problem. It just gives an excuse. Maybe other people have it easier, but that has nothing to do with you. You have to play with the cards you're dealt. Plenty of studies show that if you eat correctly and exercise you will improve no matter what. Be happy with your potential. Resistance exercise twice a week and cardio that gets your heart rate above 100 BPM sustained for 30 minutes or more. Eat lean meats and fat free dairy along with green vegetables (fresh or lightly cooked) and fruit. Stay away from heavy sugars, starches, alchohol, and fats. I guaruntee it will work if you put your heart into it! I'm by no means skinny, but I'm strong and in good shape and still losing the weight slowly. My biggest problem is that I find most people don't want to support your dietary habits.

Good post, Sir K. I was just about to point out this is yet for info from the "Blame Everything But Yourself" ("BEBY") organization and that, erm..., we should all go munch on some carbs and get our sugar levels up so we feel good about ourselves.
