Care to shed some light on how exactly this fellow operates? It seems that you'll be missing a lot of the high level benefit of the classes. Also, to top it off you'll almost certainly be taking an xp penalty.

I suppose a potential Ultra-AC build could have 5 classes: a deep gnome fighter/monk/rogue/dreadmaster/conjuror gets to around 76 AC with buffs. Of course, you get at least a 20% xp penalty for that.

So, has anyone ever packed 5 or more classes into a character?
I just wanted to comment that I think the best AC you can get w/o a XP penalty is a Deep Gnome Monk/Dreadmaster/Illusionist. Only put like 2 or 3 levels into the Monk and Dreadmaster, the rest into Illusionist.
The problem with the illusionist class is that they miss out on big AC bonus spells like shield and Tenser's Transformation.

No they don't. There's a bug in this game: If you're a specialist mage, and you have a level of any other spellcasting class, the restricted school(s) are actually available to you. Since you've got a level or 3 of Dreadmaster, you should pick the school that doesn't net you an XP penalty.

3 classes at most. I like some of the higher level goodies from some of the classes.

I'm playing with a decoy with some classes: DG Illusionist x/ Pal 2 / rogue 1/ monk 1 and he will get Fighter 1 or 2 (for the feat) Ranger 1 (2 weapons) and maybe cleric 1 to use scrolls. Probably nothing more worth adding (sorc don't give him anything, the rest can't be taken due to alignment). The monk-lvl allows him to learn any spell because of a bug. This gnome is really good to have due to the high AC and the excellent spell resistance with holy avenger. Hi's a good spellcaster too.

Sure! It's a War Wizard or Spellblade-- what I want is maximum damage enhanced by magic. Several rogue levels for backstabbing, ranger for favored enemy AND ambidex- two weapon, fighter for specialization... and so on. By the way, the wizard levels are Diviner levels.
EDIT: of course, Tenser's Transformation (with Executioner's Eyes in late HOF) and Mord's Sword is something I also wanted in this character.

Male Drow Rogue 3/Fighter 4/Barbarian 3/Wizard 20
Female Drow Monk 3/Ranger 3/Fighter 4/Wizard 5/Cleric (Dreadmaster of Bane) 15

Two AWESOME, no XP penalty (with #2, don't take Wiz level 5 'til the end) characters that handle the Tank role as well as spellcaster very, very well.

Well, they actually handle the Tank role great, and the spellcasting comes much later on in HoF mode.
