Anyone have any idea what the difficulties are? I got a thief with a 27 dex, level 17 with max pickpocket...and with a potion of master thievery and cat's grace I can't pick the guy with the lucky knucky in kuldahar.

umm...i know...and I got really tired of loading to try it over...after about the 50th time I threw my hands up in disgust.

HOF is pure concentrated evil. If you have a skill/spell that allows the enemy a saving throw or hitpoint/characterLvl defense they almst always make. I havent been able to play with my Sorc's Death magic... and he is lvl 22 with a charisma of 28...
 But my barbarian and Monk are having a real Knee-Slapper of a time -- at least when they are invisible. [img]smile.gif[/img]

actually my wizard is doing really well with her death magic and dominate spells...of course I took the spell penetration feat twice and concentrated in just about every category but transmutation.
