In SoA: Crom Faeyr, with the strength boost, reigns supreme. Once I got it, I actually had Anomen as my tank, because he killed everything quick once he got it. If I had a second choice, it would be Carsomyr. The boost that a paladin gets from a holy sword is almost obscene.
In ToB (SPOILER if you have not played it at all): I love the Axe of the Unyielding and the Ravager both, though Foebane is really nice, too (anytime my archer gets into melee combat, he dualwields the Axe of the Unyielding and Foebane, and he usually ends the combat with more hit points than he started with).

It depends on what character you're playing and what stage of the game you're at.
At the moment my solo Cleric/Mage is still in Chap 3 and I've only got 2 pieces of Crom Faeyr. For quite a while my 2 early in the game "must have" weapons have been: Mace of Disruption+2 (due to undead having to making saving throws or die) and Flail of Ages+3 (due to its elemental damage and chance of Slow) I've recently found a third "must have" weapon: Staff of Fire+2 (can summon lots of Lesser Fire Elementals) - it's cheap to recharge and much more effective than Wand of Monster Summoning. It's so useful, it may take the challenge out of soloing. |

quote: I agree that free Fire Elementals make the game easier. There are many areas which are walk-throughs. Fire Elementals absolutely rule against lesser undead! Nothing but Wraiths, Vampires and (in ToB) Bone Golems can stand against them. However, that's part of the beauty of summons. -- Nifft |

No mention of the Dragon's Breath halberd?
A +4 weapon, +1 fire, +1 cold, +1 lightning, +1 acid, +1 poison. It absolutely ROCKS against all magic-users: The +4 enchantment is superior to most weapon immunities, and even if it's blocked (by Stoneskin or something), the elemental damage STILL gets through, and the bad guy gets a Spell Interrupted: Casting Failure. It's better then the Flail of Ages, until the FoA gets upgraded in Throne of Bhall.

Staff of Magi. NOTHING beats instant invisibility that cannot be exhausted.
