I seem to be confused... my calendar says it's still February and the next month seems to be March.
I sincerely hope April is the release date but please don't hold your breath for anything like April fool's day. It will probably be closer to May.

Infogrames???? as publisher???????????

As far as I know, Vivendi Universal is the publisher of NWN.
As for the release date : it has been set trying to make for the end of March, but I guess it'll be there between end of march and end of May.
So what officials tell me (and not on a website, but in person) NWN SHOULD!! be out end of March 2002, but it COULD!! be delayed until May this year.
Suits me, as long as I have the game before the summer

They will release it this summer, June at the earliest, Sept. at the latest. They will release it because they have such an enormous franchise in D&D and the Forgotten Realms. D&D and the computer are a marriage made in heaven, they know it, and there's a ton of money to be made. So fear not. It's coming.

Most stores says it will be late june.

Buut, better to make a complete, very late game than an incomplete less late game (Twisted Rune in BG2 for example)

Just remember, the game stores are estimating. All Bioware and Infogames will say is that they are shooting for a Summer 2002 release. Wow, that can mean alot of things.

If they can get it out by June or July, and meet all our expectations even half way, NWN will be a landmark game. Bioware will not pull a Pool of Radiance II as they did not write the game. At least I keep telling myself that.

I completely agree with ISPQ(?What does that means?). The release dates that we have are estimates from the retailers, NWN will be out in the summer of 2002, I think the reason why bioware keep postponing the releasing date just so to get us all excited and astonished, so they could make some big money when it finally comes out.

Hi all

Does anyone else think that computer game companies are spinning their wheels a little too fast and trying to create way to much hype about games these days?

I mean if the NWN team had just come out and said it’ll take two to three years to develop the game (or whatever it’s going to take) and then started with the screen shots and information about now. (2-3 months before release of the game. (Hopefully))

Does anyone think that they would get fewer sales?

I personally am really looking forward to playing the game.

But I’m also really sick to death of hearing about how fantastic the game is in one breath, and being told that there is no release date -- so you can’t play it! -- with the next.

So now they’ve given us a release date.

I read a comment from a member of the NWN team saying spring 2002. Then they had the trouble with the distributor and now it’s “summer 2002”

So does that really mean Christmas? Are they just stinging us along?

I’d love to play it. -- I expect it will be as good or better than the BG series.

But I’m sick of the hype – and I think when you get sick of the hype -- then at some level that gets transferred to the game.

I think the NWN team is walking a fine line -- because they have given out so much information for so long and hyped the gamers up so much.

IF there are any problems with the game or IF it doesn’t live up to the hype that they have created -- then the frustration many people feel about not being to get their hands on the game will then get shifted onto the game it self.

We all saw it happen with POR2 -- they dug their own grave with their mistakes. But would we have been as critical and as frustrated IF we hadn’t been so hyped up about the game by the company?

Just interested in your thoughts.

PS (as another point)

Morrowind is being released very soon (i read march??)-- i've played arena and daggerfall and hadn't heard that they were doing Morrowind till recently -- so i'm just looking forward to playing it.

not lookig forward to playing it AND dreading every mention of the game that dosn't contain the words "has gone gold"

sorry for the long post.
