Kinslayer, the antagonistic behavior online seems to come in waves. There was a huge wave on and after Sept 11, which finally died down, then when the airstrikes started in Afghanistan this past weekend, another huge "wave" of antagonism and negativity has flooded the board.

It comes down to two things:

Politics

and

Religion

which most people's momma's taught them NEVER to discuss in public. I think if you look at the antagonist threads in question, those two subjects are at the root of all the fracas.

Just my opinion.

Um, because it's hysterical? Because it makes some valid points about how argument, rather than debate, works? Just for the hell of it? People start threads because they have a wart on their little finger (quite right too.... ) so I don't see why you can't start one on this. Or how about a monty python thread? Yes!! we could all chip in with our favourite lines...

I agree fully, SC! That would be a worthwhile pursuit.

Mark, since when have you or anyone had to justify creating a post at IW??? Unless it's a blatant spam attempt, (and MP is NOT Spam, except for the song ) there should be no problem.
