Just thought I'd pass this on... I've had two strange things happen with my Thunderbird email client recently, and since the answer for both was the same thing, I thought I'd pass it along.

The first issue was that whenever I read an email, a blank and empty email was created at the bottom of my inbox. I'd delete it, read another, and the sucker would be back.

The second issue was that my wife's email account took *forever* to open up... literally! It might take a good five minutes before it came back from checking for messages on the server.

The answer to both? Compacting folders. It took a little while to run, but compacting folders cleaned both issues up immediately.

So, in a little chicken soup ('cause it's good for what ails you... 70 million Jewish mothers can't be wrong ), I'm making it a practice to compact all Thunderbird folders on a regular basis. It takes virtually no time, but it saves a bunch of it.

Just thought I'd share... enjoy
