The cheap way to get out of it might be to just buy a cd lens cleaner and give it a go.

Try to install the game onto another computer and see if the install fails again. If it does then youll need a new disc.

I had a similar problem but what it turned out to be wasnt my cd-rom, it was disc 1 had an error. I got a new copy of the game and had no troubles installing it, as the new disk didnt have an error. CDs CAN lose files. Its rare but it happens. They dont even have to have a scratch. It just happens sometimes.

Yeah? Well, this is really annoying me. I guess it is one of my CDs.

Is it illegal to borrow some else's CDs and do a full install with them and then give them back and use my working ones? I don't understand the copyright laws.
