Its not a gene per say as it is an aleel. and the chances of blonde aleels passing has to be like one out of four from EACH parent if they have no blonde traits in their family past. if the traits are not carried over then they recieve some other hair color and the blonde aleel never passes on again. The darker the hair the more dominant it is. Dark hair passes along quite differintly. It sees more like the 75% chance of making it so 3 out of 4

let me try to give you a crash course on human biology

Ok lets say these are momies hair colors:
Blonde |Brunette |Blonde
___________________________
Brunette |Blonde |Brunette

And these are daddies:

Brunette |Brunette |Brunette
___________________________
Brunette |Blonde |Brunette

only one from each of those six gets mixed with one of the other six...

so it coulr be Brunette Brunett, Blond Brunette, or Blonde Blonde (unlikely but possible)

ONLY the blonde Blonde combination would result in the birth of a blonde haired child... if it is Brunette Blond or Brunette Brunette the child will simply have brown hair...

once again this is because dark hair is a dominant trait...

AND there you have the scientific explenation as to why...

so if you expect to have a blonde kid, better make sure the guy you marry is blonde too, ladies and vica-versa for the guys...

You mean the news reporters got the science wrong? they are reporting that this horrible tragedy is due to a recessive gene...bet they never even heard of aleels... 'tis a dark day indeed for mankind
